First and foremost, I write
Fiction writing is my passion. I love to lose myself in worlds other than my own, telling the stories of everyday people and how they react when their worldviews are threatened, how they try to survive, and sometimes don’t.
I also love to read (don’t all writers?). Check out my library at LibraryThing here:

But I need to earn a living
So I currently work as a data manager. I have also worked as a technical editor, freelance editor, public health survey coordinator, and research assistant for two NIH-funded studies on risk behaviors for HIV.

I design for cards, clothing, and journals
I love to create “eye candy,” colorful designs from clip art and photography that are applied to cards, clothing, books, and journals. Visit my stores at Cafepress.com and Zazzle.com.
Here’s a glimpse of what I sell:
I knit and crochet and sew and quilt
I love to create beautiful things with my hands. I feel the most centered in my world when I have silky strands of yarns and strips of bright calico slipping and sliding through my fingers.
Writing and needlework are very sedentary activities
Yoga and Pilates help me to balance and strengthen my body and give peace to my spirit.
And even when I’m creating with yarns, fabric or graphics, or opening my heart with sun salutations, I am still writing.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments.
Lizzie, thanks for stopping by and for sharing your story. Best, Marie
Your remarks struck a bell. Maybe you can give me some advice. I too love to write fiction, but I can’t enough to pay for ink cartridges. Am 84 with failing eyesight, so can’t monkey around with hard-to-get agents or spring chicken editors. So it appears I’m left with only one opeion: publish POD. I did, twice already, iUniverse & Llumina, but have 2 more novels. What to do – put in print and make no significant sales or put in drawer and fortet? Ay and all advice appreciated. Maybe I need a firm to take over sales and mareting. cb
Hey, Calvin,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I’d say definitely get your work out there! Take a look at Pump Up Your Promotion at http://www.pumpupyouronlinebookpromotion.blogspot.com/. I have not used them myself, but their rates seem reasonable. It’s mostly web-based marketing, but that could still give you a bump in sales. Good luck and, again, thanks for visiting.
